LOS ANGELES, CA — On Tuesday, Eric Garcetti won the Los Angeles mayoral runoff election and his first order of business was to establish a Kickstarter campaign for the city’s budget issues. While talking in front of reporters at City Hall, Garcetti cited the “past successes of Kickstarter campaigns” as reasons for this direction. “When you look at something like Zach Braff’s campaign that raised nearly $3 million dollars, you have to shake your head and say, ‘Wow, something good is happening there.’ In my mind, technology should always be at the forefront and something like Kickstarter revolutionizes the way we raise money. If every Angeleno just donated $1 to the ‘Save LA from Bankruptcy’ Kickstarter, we’d have over $3 million dollars. Amazing!” Garcetti did admit that he has his work set out in front of him since he does not have the “charm or rugged good looks” of Zach Braff.
